I haven’t been watching good movies lately. I haven’t been watching movies much, actually. When Kitreena is not hogging the TV all to herself watching Lilo & Stitch five times a day, the TV’s off. Or I’ll be busy uploading our Cuti Malaysia pictures on to Yahoo Album (in between reading my books of course). Well, Kitreena’s obsession to Lilo has come down to once or twice a day now. She’s into Mulan and Boo in Monsters Inc. these days. And I do take her down to the pool everyday. Hmmm my anak itik.
On movies…
A friend of mine, Vincent, watches only movies he “can learn something from”. Movies with a message. I wonder if that excludes all the Harry Potter’s and Lord of The Rings’s. Does it, Vince? Is it what messages they have, or is it what messages we look for that matters? I have watched Lilo probably 128 times as of today, and I just realized it – by the 5th time of watching it – how the Polynesians in Hawaii and New Zealand are distinctively separated by two different dialects of English. The former American English, the latter apparently New Zealand English.

It was challenging enough trying to understand Australian English. I spent three years in Perth, and my overused words were, “Pardon me?” I guess I was more familiar, or rather exposed, to American English. Darn ya Malaysian TV channels! And about the only Aussie show that I could recall watching was “Water Rats”. But hey, what do you know, I am now glued to the tube when Stingers is on. And I admit, I was sooo not a fan of Steve Irwin, but now…I find his accessive
enthusiasm rather insipring. I kinda miss that bloody Aussie accent!
