The lyrics…no sweat lah. Nope, I am by no chance of Minang or Nogori background (my brother in law is from Jolobu, though – if that counts. Hee hee.) As a matter of fact, I am half Chinese (mom’s side) and half Indian (dad’s side). But our family is no less Malay than any other Malays, I don’t think. I consider myself as a true Malaysian.
Both my parents are big on language learning – whether they ever realized it or not. They can speak bahasa in almost any dialects thrown at them. Hence, we kids picked it up pretty easily.
