Edrick speaks with an assertive voice that comes with a volume you rarely have to ask him to repeat himself. On the other hand, his Kaka is a soft spoken and a quiet speaker. Two totally different characters, these November babies. And often, the kakak being kakak, Kitreena has to control everybody’s volume (and everything else).
Last Sunday, having some ENT issues, Kitreena was ‘deaf’ in one ear. But she was speaking like a mouse — so worried if she was being too loud. Although Kafei Dian was not all that noisy, we could barely hear ourselves. The white noise was so prevalent, you see.
So when her Dedek was telling about something into her good ear with that assertive voice, Kitreena patted her brother’s hand frantically gently gesturing to him to turn his volume down a few notches.
There was no word exchanged. Edrick didn’t get it. Kitreena couldn’t say it. And in that frantic confusion, not knowing what she meant or what she wanted, he just went and kissed her hand!
The whole world seemed to freeze for a moment. And then Mandak and me both went “Auuuwwwww!” That was so sweet.
I don’t know what you call that kind of moment. If it wasn’t a Kodak Moment, it might have been an Aha Moment. Mo man tai, whatever moment it was, you name it. And I… I just don’t ever want to forget that Moment.
