Three weeks ago I bought a pack of 4-in-1 CD’s. Sixty songs altogether. I scanned through the titles and amazed myself when I realized that I actually knew 58 songs by heart. The other two I thought I must have heard, and found out later that I did. But one that keeps coming and humming in my head is this:
Barang yang lepas
hai jangan dikenang
kalau dikenang meracun lah diri…
And so tonight I stopped mengenang for a little bit, and stopped meracun diri. I just let myself merasa. For tonight I’m healing.
barang yang lepas jangan di kenang
kalau di kenang bukan barang yang lepas
barang yang lepas jangan di kenang
kenang barang yang lepas lepas melepas
hehe terrer tak i?
Wiz:
Ha’ah lagu lama. P.Ramlee’s! Oh I used to imagine myself magically turning into Uji Rashid and holding hands with Hail Amir (goaty and all) singin’ together bertentangan mata.
First day at Tadika Dewan Kampung Pinang, Kamunting…I asked the teacher if I could sing “Hujan”:
Hujan…oh hujan lekas berhenti
Hujan…oh hujan usah turun lagi
Lama sudah kunantiiii
I went to Tadika only for a month. And for that one FULL month the teacher and other kids got their free Uji Rashid-wannabe’s show FOC ok!
Tu belum masuk Noorkumalasari, Sharifah Aini, Rafeah Buang, Quinnary M, Gaya Zakry, Muhaini Suratman, Sudirman, Broery Marantika, Aman Shah, DJ Dave – to name a few.
It’s amazing how we can remember the lyrics and tune of all these songs from our childhood kan?
I’ll bet Kitreena will recall Jason Mraz’s song with no problem…in year 2033. But among the Malay songs I know she will remember would be:
Ala payung lah payung ketipang payung
Payung sutera nak raja muda
Ala tolong lah tolong cik abang tolong
Jangan lah marah pada adinda
Lagu lagu lama ker Enida? I used to sing along to Uji Rashid and Hail Amir’s song when I was little and till now I could still remember the tune and the lyrics.
