I, for one, am not the kind who falls into fashion fad very easily. No I am not fashionable and I can say I am fashionably stable that way. But when I do let myself fall into fashion, it’s wayyy away from what you can call a fad anymore. And I let myself fall fashionably, too. Fashionable, in my definition, is being comfortable. Comfortable when I pay for them and when I wear them. Whatever they may be. Clothes, shoes, perfumes, phones. Yes, phone. I wear my RAZR2V9 like a second skin. Comfortably.
So steadfast my belief is in comfort that I never joined those bask of crocodiles flocking to Crocs for the love of zeal. Skeptical was nowhere near to describe how I felt about those rubberlike-colorful-good-for-pasar-basah-Selayang (wet market) footwear. As a matter of fad, I was once convinced Pua Chu Kang must have had a fat share in spreading the rage for Crocs in this Southeast Asian region. (Oh! He was so hamsem in Sumolah! His English is like unagi on my tongue! Sukane!)
But two weeks ago I had no choice but to borrow Untoo Pet’s orange Crocs to Untoo Mas’s swimming pool. They were very surprisingly comfortable on my feet. For someone who has a lot of issues with her feet, I cannot afford but to be extremely careful choosing my footwear. I have pes-planus feet (fallen arch), a problem that was caused by the weight I gained when carrying Kitreena (pre-natal and extended post). It was worsened by the bunion I had especially on my left foot – a condition that is unfortunately hereditary.
So last week, I comfortably put my foot in my mouth!

you know what ngah? after so many high heels for work, at last i settled for those peep toe wedges from crocs in black! so now i don’t have to think which shoe can last me the whole day at the office! 😉
p.s. it’s a good thing the office dress code is casual, but the peep toe would pass even for formals i think! 😀
These guys are smart kan? All it is sebenarnya, I think, is the light material and vibrant colors they use to attract market yang dah bosan dengan sandals yang berselirat, bertali-tali dan velcro left right and center. Now Crocs even ada sepatu tumit tinggi and ‘platform’ like shoes.
But true, the blacks and dark browns slip-ons look good enough for smart-casual occasions. Comfy plak tu. Bijak…bijak.
Hi Nida, you know what? after using gators(the ciplak version of crocs) all this while, I pun lepas dapat duit kek lebih hari tu cuba la nak merasa beli crocs thinking that if gator pun dah sedap pakai, lagikan crocs kan? So I dragged azam and the kids to the shop and tried about 5 kiddie pairs sebab tak de my size at the adults’ section. To my surprise, honestly.seriously speaking, my gators felt wayyyyy much comfortable Nida. Ni bukan nak sep duit ker apa. I was really ready to buy, I had this crumpled money amounting to the exact change which I have been saving for quite sometime. The sales boy pun dah pening dah sebab I bawak jalan crocs tu one whole shop, jumped and skip before trying on my gators balik to compare.
I guess I have cheap feet kut ha ha ha, Alhamdulillah sep duit aye.
Wiz,
Apa ada pada nama? Chewah! Crocs ke, Gators ke, semua letak kat kaki. Hehe. I honestly think Crocs are over-priced. And they pun menangguk lah di ‘Ayer Keroh‘ just because people are like so proud to own a pair or two. I pulak tak pernah lah tau akan kewujuduan Gators. Kalau tidak, dah lama check them out. And I sure will lepas ni!
My feet, unfortunately are on their ‘last leg’ – they are ageing faster than the rest of my body. If me boobies are going south, my feet are already permanent residents of the south! Tu yang terlebih manja dan jual mahal tu.
But really, at the end of the day if manufacturers of those ‘Selipar Jepun’ yang Made in China tu smarten up and buat selipar kaler-kaler sket, add some arch support and maintain the price… Crocs can croak, I tell ya!
